Visionaries; an interview with Kit Christina Keawwantha
We tend to look for visionaries (and solutions) in the wrong places.
Irish people like to externalise.
Every problem and therefore every solution must be found outside of Ireland.
Combine with a bad case of expert worship and you have a perfect recipe for sitting on your hands.
But God dislikes drinking from stagnant waters & there seems to be a universal law that no matter the problem, a solution (or the tools to find one) are always at hand.
The dogs on the street know Ireland has a problem with wool.
So, armed with the confidence of naivety, I set out to find someone in Ireland who has studied this problem and who might even have a solution.
Such a person was presented to me without much time or effort on my part.
Meet Kit Christina Keawwantha, a Cork based herbalist, mother and artist. After taking a felting workshop with a friend, she fell in love with the endless potential of wool, from beautiful architectural shapes to vibrant colours.
