Dear people,
Yaaaaaaawwwww it’s September and this writer could not be happier.
I rather selfishly like harvest season. I like new baked potatoes cracked open with a fork and dripping with butter. I like ripe blackberries. I like seeing trees I’ve planted bear fruit.
The planting part I tolerate, but as a rewards based animal, autumn is my jam. (Did I mention how much I like jam?)
I also like seeing creative projects come to fruition.
I love to curate and bundle up months of work into tiny delicious morsels, be it a photograph, an article or a magazine.
People seem surprised by how far in advance I plan articles, but any good farmer knows that it’s best to plant seeds long before dinnertime.
Each article involves weeks, usually months of planning, researching, scheduling interviews, writing, getting approval… but the most important part is waiting.
You see, the best articles marinate internally for a good degree of time. Somewhere in the subconscious, the story begins to make sense and I wake…
