I had a conversation recently about being a citizen of Earth.
The idea being that, as a citizen of Earth, you could handle anything Earth threw at you.
Skijoring, suturing, kite flying, pearl diving, you get the picture.
It’s not a new idea by any means.
The Renaissance (which by the way only involved about 500 people) was an era obsessed with the man who could do it all.
And in a way, the travel influencer of today walks a well trodden path.
Tattoos in Bali, desert trains in Namibia, flights to the end of the Americas are all options today because, well, someone went first.
The fascination with the adventurer stems, not from the range of humans, but the range of one human.
We love the idea that a man may travel beyond his home and thrive in alien conditions.
And I suppose, as even the most sedentary among us hurtle at impossible speeds towards a new year, we may look upon this slice of time as an adventure.
An adventure that may require a bizarre intersection of skills.
